continue to drop as you master the 60' time (a rule of thumb: .1 second in the first 60'=.2 of a second in the 1/4 mile). Alot of drag racers think that they make a modification and get instant results....you are continuing to go quicker...without spectacular 60' times. Most of the 11 second stock turbos have a much lower 60' time . Go do some research and see how your ET compares to other stock turbos and their (much lower) 60' times. You are continuing to get guicker as your 60' drops ( this is the main gain in using the gears, as well as some increased MPH). Practice, practice, practice....it's not as easy to get a good launch as as some people think. However, the gears, will allow you to more easily and repeatedly stick good 60'. No offense intended but we have a couple of stock turbos with the 4.10s doing repeatable low 1.6s and mid 1.5s....thats huge improvement in 1/4 mile ET. Please look at this as a learning process and not an immediate successful event. There is no reason that you can't get the Z to do repeatable 1.6s and possibly an occassional 1.5. It's a little more difficult than it seams on paper. All of us 1/4 mile racers, see incrimental improvements as we play with launch techniques, shift points,, and other little improvements. I'm obviously biased to the gear improvement, and I think you are just begging to see the gains as you get more comfortable with the dynamics of the launching and shift points. I disagree with Mike about the launch technique, I prefer to find an optimum RPM and "drop the hammer" at that RPM without slipping the clutch. If you improve your launch .05 seconds each time out, you will see some fabulous improvements in you ET. You've already dropped .2 second and only been out to the strip a couple of times with the gears. You've got to play with the launch techniques, until you find what works for you (ie. RPM launch, tire pressure,etc.). You might give Mike WXY (by far the best manual driver of a Z in the country), and pick his brain on his launch style. Please be patient and feel free to contact me if you think I can add any info to this long winded reply. But to repeat myself (I do that often), compare your ET, MPH, and 60' times to comperable ETs (that have much lower 60's). The car also accelerates down the 1/4 quicker due to the torque multiplication, which would explain why you are running equal ETs to cars that have the same MPH and lower 60' times....that is a result of the gears ability to accelerate the car quicker. Keep practicing and be PATIENT. You're doing great, Mark
